Legal requirements for getting married in Bahamas- The cost of a license is approximately $100.00. The waiting period is 24 hours. No blood test is required. Must obtain a declaration certifying that both parties are unmarried U.S. citizens, sworn before a U.S. Consul at the American Embassy in Nassau, or obtain a marriage license from the Commissioner's Office for weddings on any Bahamas island outside of New Providence (Nassau). Both parties must apply in person for the marriage license. Proof of arrival in the Bahamas is required. If the couple or members of the wedding party plan to travel to the island prior to December 31, 2006 one of three identification documents is accepted: Passport, Official Birth Certificate, or Original Naturalization/Citizenship Certificate. If the couple or members of the wedding party plan to travel to the island after December 31, 2006 new Bahamian law requires all parties to provide a passport. A birth certificate is no longer accepted in lieu of a passport. A photo ID is also required. Proof of divorce or death certificate, if applicable, must be submitted. Parental consent is required for parties under 18 years of age. For couples wishing to exchange vows on the weekend, wedding certificates must be obtained from the Commissioner's office Monday-Friday, from 9:30am - 4:30pm. An on-site expert will work with you or your wedding consultant to reserve your dates, plan the schedule of events, and coordinate all food and beverage details, from menu design to linens, as well as assist with other aspects of your wedding experience at the Resort. Four Seasons will be pleased to assist you or to make arrangements with our preferred floral designers, or the florist of your choice. They can also create themes and matching decor for your event setting. There are numerous picturesque locations for wedding photography, including the beach, the lush tropical gardens and the golf course by the water's edge.
