Great Exuma is not known as a nightlife hotspot, primarily because it is a destination for relaxation. The island has no clubs; however, get-togethers occur around the hotel districts frequently, and barbeques are held twice a week on the beaches. There is also weekend dancing available at the Two Turtles. Dining in Great Exuma is a great experience with most restaurants offering fresh fish dishes. However, don’t expect to find too many different types of cuisines on the island. Most restaurants are clustered around George Town. Enjoy Exuma nightlife which includes a weekly dance at the Two Turtles Inn and the local Rake and Scrape Band at Eddie's Edgewater, then return home to count the endless array of stars dotting the black velvet sky overhead. The nightlife in Exuma is very exciting and has something for everyone. You can choose from among many such establishments as: Club La Shante, Dames’ Bar & Lounge, Marylee Chinese Food, Silver Dollar Restaurant, Three Sisters, and Two Turtles Inn. The main focus today for tourists to Exuma looking for shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife is Georgetown, bordered by a marine lake on one side and magnificent Elizabeth Harbour on the other. Nightlife like in most Out-islands is gentle, with most of the action taking place in the various hotels and bars, where live music is often played. Across Elizabeth Harbour is Stocking Island, long and thin with miles of deserted beaches and great shelling. On the island's highest point is a tall monument, erected to guide ships in to load up with salt in the last century. They would fly flags or burn fires on it when there was salt for sale.
